About the Midlands Air Festival
One of Europe's largest hot air balloon gatherings, combining over 100 balloons and special shapes with a full international air display at Ragley Hall. The Friday 'Nightfire' evening spectacle pairs balloon mass ascents with pyrotechnic aircraft, fireglow and fireworks.
First flown in 2018, it is now in its 9th year and one of Europe's established dates on the 2026 hot air balloon festival calendar.
The venue
The Midlands Air Festival takes place in Alcester, Warwickshire, United Kingdom, in Europe. Check the official organiser site and local tourism resources for parking, accommodation and the latest schedule, as launch times depend heavily on the weather.
What to expect
Plan around the dawn and dusk mass ascents, when winds are at their calmest, plus the after-dark glow when tethered balloons light up the field. Even in the spring months the early starts are cool, so pack a light layer and sturdy shoes for grassy fields. Every flight is weather-dependent, so check on the morning itself before you travel.
